Getting Prepared

Friday 29th July - the wall between the bowling club and Tutchen Street is removed to make way for the trucks to access Green 1 and the lemon tree is excavated (this tree has been relocated to Green 3

Saying Goodbye

Bowls Tauranga South Members get together on Sunday 31st July to play their final game of bowls on Green 1

Day 1 of Excavation

The diggers move in to lay a track of pummice for the trucks to drive on before starting to excavate the green.  (This step is to avoid any of the contiminated soil that could possibly stick to the wheels of the trucks to be spread)

Access is blocked off from the rear doors of the clubhouse.

Day 2 of Excavation

A latge amount of soil has been removed and laser levels are being used to ensure the excavation depth of 400 mm is maintained.  Photography has to be done by stretching arm out of window due to no access being allowed out to works area for Health and Safety reasons.

Day 3 - Everything is Trucking Along  

Truckloads of soil being taken away and the digger keeps digging.  Not long to go now and the delicate work can start :-

  • Sewer connections to the new manhole on Tutchen Street
  • Vehicle crossing on Devonport Road
  • Water connection on Devonport Road
